Having my Vietnamese morning coffee with this beautiful view at the homestay
From this station you can go to the top of the highest mountain in IndoChina, Fanispan
Unfortunately the center of Sapa has turned into a Vietnamese Las Vegas look
I spent 11 days on the back of a motorcycle, a great way to visit this country and experience it through all your senses.
This corn is used for the animals.
At the end of the rainy season, the weather was very mixed. Central Vietnam even got the visit of typhoon Noru.
Sorting peppers to sell in the market.
I was surprised by the living conditions of the Hmong people. One tiny window barely making the kitchen visible. This photo is much brighter the reality. The bedroom and living space had no windows at all.
My dinner companion.
Photos of English spelling mistakes could fill a book. Never knew you could buy BUST tickets ;-)
I photographed this Hmong lady in 2016, and recognized her right away. Seems she is doing well having a spot at the local market.
Hmong women walk around Sapa trying to sell trinkets; the moment you respond to one, you get swarmed. I had fun with them!
Inside a truck, a father with his son.
I was extremely lucky the rice season was delayed in Mu Cang Chai due to the rain, so I got to see it at its best!
The Hmong people in their daily colorful outfits work day in day out to harvest the rice. Intense manual labour.
The path near the rice paddies were very narrow and muddy, didn't think I would be visiting this on a motorcycle.
A bamboo forest.
The are such beautiful places on this planet, this certainly is one of them!
The different stage of rice cultivation
I loved going to remote places and connect with the Hmong community. Didn't see a single tourist all day.
This photo of my homestay, was taken on an early morning, by Krystian from Poland, I was jealous of his drone.
Barbecue evening at the homestay.
Zi, my Hmong guide. He didn't speak English, thankfully Google translate worked well. However, his motor riding skills were out of this world. He could become an enduro racing champion!
Slipping and sliding up and down the mountains, we never fell, but it was crazy! It was the most adventurous day of my life!
Great timing!
it's very difficult to walk in the rice paddies. The front border is made of mud, very narrow and slippery. I nose-dived into the rice field the moment I arrived near my homestay. Learned my lesson fast ;-)
A typical Vietnamese restaurant in the center of Mu Cang Chai; this is where the locals eat. The dogs wait for what falls on the floor "accidentally". Don't think they work with an interior designer.
A lot of food is prepared on the side walks.
This lady came up to me and was curious , she had a beautiful energy.
She was thrilled to see a photo of us together.
